New ENeRG president

The new ENeRG president for 2012 is Dr. Niels E. Poulsen of GEUS, Denmark.

The last ENeRG meeting took place on the 21st of October 2011 in Maria Laach, Germany.

The next ENeRG meeting will take place on 21st April 2012 in Venice, San Servolo Island, Italy

- Award: EneRG Student Prize

In June 9th 2009, ENeRG awards for students were given at the EAGE Annual Conference, held in Amsterdam. These awards have an endowment of 1,000 Euros and are conceded both to best oral and best poster presentation given at last EAGE Annual Conference held in Rome in 2008. Winners of this year were Hassan Karimaie from NTNU, Norway, and Zhongping Qian from BGS, UK, and the awards were presented by ENeRG country representatives Snezana Komatina - Petrovic, Patrick Corbett and Chris te Stroet.

News from the CSLF - new Technology Roadmap

CCS session and two panel discussions on CCS co-organised by UNESCO, ENeRG and Balkan Geophysical Society (BGS) took place in May in Serbia.

CCS session at the 5th Congress of Balkan Geophysical Society (BGS) in Belgrade was organized by ENeRG and BGS on the 13th May. Abstracts of all presentations were published by EAGE (sponsor of the 5h BGS Congress) on CD.
Two interactive panel discussions on CCS took place during the special event Energy, Economy and Environment (14-15 May, Mecavnik, Serbia) with participation of scientists, representatives of Serbian Power sector, and UNESCO-BRESCE (Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe). Letter of Interest was signed by Snezana Komatina-Petrovic (President of BGS) and Engelbert Ruoss (Director of UNESCO-BRESCE).

-EEF LUNCH DEBATE

ENeRG sponsored a Lunch Debate entitled "R&D opportunities in geo-energy and CCS" organized by the European Energy Forum on 25 March at the European Parliament in Strasbourg. The opening speech was imparted by Mr. Roberto Martinez, president of ENeRG, which was also represented by Mr. Sergio Persoglia and Dr. Alla Shogenova....
